Herbs from Flores Nacional
There are three common ways in preparing an herbal tea. Fermentation, Infusion, decoction. When you ferment, you simply allow the herb to sit in whatever liquid you may choose.
Infusion is where you may boil first the water, once the water reaches the boiling stage; you then add the herbal product to it, allowing it to boil for approximately 20 seconds and removing it from the fire. You then allow it to sit, it is strained and now ready for use. Decoction is where you need to boil the herbal product for about 5 minutes before straining and using.
You need to keep one thing in mind. The harvest of each of these botanical products is very important, and that is to obtain the product so that it has the active ingredients that will serve its healing purpose. Other factors that are important is the (1) the climate, (2) Soil, (3) when to harvest, and (4) How to dry and prepare.
It has been my experience that the area in which a botanical product is collected plays a very important roll in its healing properties and that would have to do with certain soil minerals and altitude. Therefore there are many factors involved.
